What will the worship service be like?
In worship, our eyes are opened and we encounter Jesus Christ. We hear Christ speaking to us as we read the Scriptures, sing, pray, and receive the sacraments of communion and baptism.
What will the music be like?
Joyful! Our musicians draw from excellent music of every genre. Music is led by pipe organ, piano, keyboard, guitars, violin, chancel and handbell choirs, and praise team.
Is childcare available? When Is Sunday School for children?
Childcare for infants and toddlers is provided, and an usher can direct you to our nursery and trained staff. In addition, Sunday School for children age three through senior high takes place during the 10:30 am service. Children are dismissed to Sunday School classrooms after the Children’s Message.
What should I wear?
We encourage you to wear whatever makes you comfortable. You will see men in suits and ties, but mostly in slacks and jeans. You will see women in dresses as well as slacks.
How long are the services?
Services run 60-70 minutes in length. Length may vary on those Sundays when we celebrate communion or baptisms.
How will I know what to do in worship?
Our ushers will give you a worship bulletin. Everything you need to participate in the worship service (words, music and cues to sit and stand) is printed in the worship bulletin.
Should I bring a Bible with me?
You may, of course, but we have plenty of Bibles located in the pews. We use the New International Version (NIV).
Where can I park?
East Whittier Presbyterian Church is a neighborhood church located (you guessed it!) right in the middle of a friendly neighborhood one block north of Whittier Boulevard. There is plenty of parking along the tree-lined streets. There also is a parking lot at the rear of the church property.
I have another question you haven’t answered here.
Contact the church office through this website, or call the office, 562.698.9948 and speak to one of our staff members.
